For more than thirty years, Thomas
S. Cosma has dedicated his practice to
the litigation and trial of
substantial matters, largely in the
areas of construction law,
commercial law, corporate and
business law, and trusts and
estates. In that capacity, he has
litigated before the United States
District Court for the District of
New Jersey, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals,
and the United States
Supreme Court, as well as New Jersey
State courts.
Mr. Cosma served as a Member of the
New Jersey Supreme Court District
Ethics Committee. He is also a
member of the Essex County Bar
Association and of the New Jersey
State Bar Association, for which he
has served on the Construction and
Public Contract Committee since
1984. He has served as Chair of both
the New Jersey State Bar
Association’s Judicial
Administration Committee and the
Equity Jurisprudence Committee.
As a Member of the American Bar
Association, Mr. Cosma participates
in the Litigation, Business Law, and Public Contract
Law sections. Within the Business
Law Section, Mr. Cosma is a member
of the following committees:
Business and Corporate Litigation;
Legal Opinions; LLCS, Partnerships
and Unincorporated Entities; Middle
Market and Small Business;
Negotiated Acquisitions; and Uniform
Commercial Code. He also serves in
the Section of
Litigation’s Construction Litigation
and Business Torts Litigation
Committees and the Section of Public
Contract Law’s Model Procurement
Code and III-Construction Division
Committees.
Following law school, Mr. Cosma
served as Law Secretary to the
Honorable Peter W. Thomas, of the
Superior Court of New Jersey, Law
