Mr. Sayles practices primarily in the areas of professional liability and directors and officers litigation,
providing representation to professionals in
a broad array of industries.
For example, in concert with
the Construction Law practice group, he regularly counsels architects and engineers in negligence and malpractice claims arising during all phases of project development - from the initial design and design implementation stages through construction management and into post-construction. In this capacity, Mr. Sayles' expertise includes defense against personal injury claims arising from worksite injuries as well as resolution of contract disputes.
In addition, Mr. Sayles is regarded for his defense of legal malpractice claims in multiple areas of the law. He has defended legal professionals in claims arising from transactional, matrimonial, trust and estate, and real estate representation, as well as in general litigation claims. Many of his clients have faced issues arising under the Rules of Professional Conduct. He is also skilled in defending attorneys and other debt collection professionals in claims arising under the Federal Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
Prior to joining Connell Foley, Mr. Sayles worked in a professional liability defense firm for two years. Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Sayles served as
Law Clerk to the Honorable Estela M. De La Cruz of the Superior Court of New Jersey for Bergen County. He also served as a student lawyer with Legal Services of Central New York.
During law school, Mr. Sayles was awarded a Dean's Scholarship, the Charles J. Dittmar Scholarship, and the Honorable Edward Knight Memorial Scholarship.
