Andrew C. Sayles


Andrew C. Sayles focuses on complex litigation in the areas of financial services, professional liability, commercial disputes, construction law, copyright infringement, D&O claims, employment law and class actions.  In addition to frequent appearances before New York and New Jersey state courts, Mr. Sayles has argued matters before the District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the District Court of New Jersey, the Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey, and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

Against this background, Mr. Sayles has developed a heightened experience handling consumer actions arising through the financial services industry including claims arising under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Truth in Lending Act (TILA), and related federal regulations. In this respect, he has appeared before the United States Solicitor General, Federal Trade Commission and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau on behalf of the creditors and debt collectors. Additionally, Mr. Sayles has successfully represented clients in claims involving New Jersey’s Consumer Fraud Act (CFA) and Truth-in-Consumer Contract, Warranty and Notice Act (TCCWNA).

Mr. Sayles counsels contractors, architects and engineers in negligence and malpractice claims arising during all phases of project development and frequently represents attorneys, law firms, and other professionals in malpractice actions.  He further advises and represents employers, health care providers and similar entities in connection with negligence and abuse claims.  

Prior to joining Connell Foley, Mr. Sayles worked in a healthcare and professional liability defense firm for two years. After graduation from law school, Mr. Sayles served as a law clerk to the Honorable Estela M. De La Cruz of the Superior Court of New Jersey for Bergen County. During law school, Mr. Sayles was awarded a Dean's Scholarship, the Charles J. Dittmar Scholarship, the Honorable Edward Knight Memorial Scholarship, served as a student lawyer with Legal Services of Central New York, and competed in the Grossman Moot Court Competition.
