Michael A. Shadiack was the featured presenter at
the Morris County Chamber of Commerce’s seminar “Hot
Tips for Employers to Maximize the Benefits of Employee
Handbooks and to Avoid Common Drafting Errors” held on
July 14, 2011.
The seminar
empowered human resource professionals, business owners, and
management representatives with the knowledge and tools to
formulate and implement a practical and effective employee
handbook, and effectively manage employees, in compliance
with federal and state employment laws. Shadiack
discussed the numerous ways that a clearly-worded and
well-organized employee handbook will benefit an
organization.
Shadiack provided practical advice for drafting, and even
more importantly, updating an employee handbook to comply
with 2011 standards, and discussed the substantive policies
that must be (by law) and should be (as a good business
practice) included in an employee handbook.
Shadiack is a partner
in the firm's
Labor and Employment law practice group, who practices
exclusively in the areas of labor and employment law on
behalf of management in the private and public sectors, in
addition he represents non-profit organizations and
institutions of higher education. He provides employers with
pro-active and preventative counseling on personnel and
benefit issues to ensure compliance with statutory and
common law requirements, as well as prepares comprehensive
and practical employment agreements and personnel policies
tailored to each employer’s specific needs.
