Connell Foley Partner
Anthony F. Vitiello, recognized nationally for his
expertise in planning estates for high net worth
individuals, has authored a specialty chapter on Grantor
Retained Annuity Trusts (GRATs) for the American Bar
Association’s national publication: Practical Guide to
Estate Planning.
Within the chapter produced by Vitiello are details that
encompass the history of GRATs, the application of tax code
sections to GRATs and a basic overview on how to create a
GRAT. It also
includes specific examples of how GRATs work and covers
issues that arise with GRATs when a grantor dies.
Connell Foley managing partner, Mike McBride, commented:
“Being selected to create this chapter for the American Bar
Association underscores Tony’s reputation among his peers as
a superior resource for the most complicated of estate plans
which require a detailed grasp of the gift tax laws.”
Vitiello stated: “I
am pleased to have been selected to author this chapter on
what may be the most important estate planning technique
available to high net worth individuals.
I hope it assists professionals and non-professionals
in understanding a complicated topic.”
With
a legal background that encompasses 18 years of practice in
sophisticated estate planning for high and ultra-high net
worth individuals, complex tax controversies against the
IRS, hard-fought
estate litigation matters and post-death estate
administrations, Vitiello is regularly consulted for his
insight into such areas. He frequently presents to diverse
audiences of professional advisors across the United States on related topics.
As
Chairman of the
Taxation and Estate Planning Group at Connell Foley,
Vitiello has been recognized by top industry magazines for
his abilities, such as Worth Magazine’s “Top 100 Attorneys”
