Peter J. Smith Featured in Business Credit Magazine
on New Jersey Lien Law
Partner Peter J. Smith, whose practice focuses on litigation
and arbitration of construction disputes, authored an
article entitled, “New Jersey Lien Law,” which was featured
in the March 2006 issue of Business Credit magazine.
In the article, Mr. Smith explains that New Jersey’s
Construction Lien Law (CLL) allows contractors,
subcontractors and suppliers to place liens on privately
owned property improved by their work when they are not paid
for their materials or services.
Mr.
Smith further discusses several aspects of the CLL, such as
the deadline and procedure for filing a claim, defense of
payment, resolving the lien, waivers and related statutes.
