Biography:
During her twenty years of practice, Karen Painter Randall has demonstrated her dedication to adhering to the highest principles and standards of the legal profession and service to the community.  Ms. Randall joined Connell Foley as an associate in 1986, and became a partner in 1992.  She presently serves as Chair of the Defense Division of the Directors and Officers Litigation Department at Connell Foley.  In addition, she is Co-Chair of the Professional Liability and Tort Law Department.  Ms. Randall also shares her expertise in the day-to-day management of Connell Foley--as a member of our Strategic Planning; Summer Associate and Law Clerk Selection; Long Range Planning; Business Development; Associate Mentoring; and Marketing Committees.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Randall distinguished herself as a member of Omicron Delta Kappa and Mortar Board.  She was awarded the Strom Thurmond Scholarship at the University of South Carolina Law School and was a member of the Moot Court Board.  Ms. Randall was also a member of the American Bar Association Law School Division Moot Court Team and Legislative Council. Ms. Randall was Law Clerk to the Hon. Richard W. Riley, Governor, State of South Carolina from 1983 until 1984, and served as Law Secretary to the Honorable J. Emmet Cassidy, Presiding Judge, Law Division of Bergen County from 1984 until 1985.   As Project Manager for the South Carolina Department of Corrections, she drafted and implemented legislation for the first Victim Restitution Program for the State of South Carolina.

Ms. Randall is a Trustee of the Hospital Center at Orange Foundation, Inc.  She also served on the Board of Directors for Colburn Insurance Services from 1997 until 1998 and on the Board of Advisors, Colburn Insurance Services, 1998-1999.   In August, 2005, the New Jersey Law Journal listed Ms. Randall as a prominent leader among women and minority attorneys in the State of New Jersey.   She was appointed a member of NJ300--a group created in 1998 to provide the State's top women executives with various cross-industry networking opportunities.  Ms. Randall has gone on to serve on the NJ300 Steering Committe and was selected as Northern New Jersey Regional Chair.  In further recognition of her leadership role, Ms. Randall has been nominated by the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce for the Women of Influence Award (2004). 

Ms. Randall is an Adjunct Faculty member of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.  She is a Member of the Essex County, Bergen County, New Jersey State and American Bar Associations (ABA) and The Association of Trial Lawyers of America. She is also Co-Chair of the ABA Professional Liability Sub-Committee, and Co-Chair of the ABA Director and Officer Sub-Committee.  In her capacity as a New Jersey State Bar Association member, Ms. Randall has served on the Standing Committee on Insurance Benefits, the Malpractice Insurance Committee, and the Election Law Committee.  For the Bergen County Bar Association, Ms. Randall was a member of the Judicial Performance Committee.

The Supreme Court of New Jersey, Board of Trial Attorney Certification, has designated Ms. Randall a Certified Civil Trial Attorney.
