Honors:
The Supreme Court of New Jersey, Board of Trial Attorney Certification, has designated Mr. Smith a Certified Civil Trial Attorney. He was also appointed to the New Jersey Construction Advisory Council of the American Arbitration Association, 2006.
Biography:
Mr. Smith became a partner in 1989. During his career with the firm, Mr. Smith's practice has been devoted primarily to litigation and arbitration of construction disputes.
Mr. Smith is Co-Author of Representing the Contractor in Defense of Owner Claims, in Construction Litigation: Representing the Contractor, Wiley Law, Second Edition (1992). He is a Member of the New Jersey State (Construction and Public Contract Law Section, serving as Chairman from 1993 through 1995) and American (Member, Public Contract Law and Litigation Sections and ABA Forum on the Construction Industry) Bar Associations.
Since 1995, Mr. Smith has been a member of the Construction Industry Panel of Arbitrators for the American Arbitration Association. In 1999, Mr. Smith was selected by the American Arbitration Association to serve on its New Jersey Public Sector Panel of Mediators and Arbitrators. He has served on a variety of construction industry arbitration panels, deciding claims involving major public and quasi-public construction projects and surety matters.
