Biography:
Robert E. Ryan is Managing Partner of the Professional Liability Practice Group and a Senior Litigator at Connell Foley LLP. A four-time Certified Civil Trial Attorney as certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey, Mr. Ryan has dedicated his professional practice for over 25 years to the litigation and trial of substantial matters. Mr. Ryan’s practice places particular emphasis on the representation of architects, engineers, attorneys and physicians in major professional malpractice litigation. In this regard, Mr. Ryan has served as lead counsel in the representation of regional, national and international professional firms in significant litigation matters venued in both the State and Federal Courts. Mr. Ryan has also represented parties in significant product liability litigation as well as large scale construction defect actions in all forums. Mr. Ryan has litigated a wide-variety of substantial and complex matters, including professional liability, general liability, product liability, catastrophic construction accidents, wrongful death, design and construction-related property damage and economic loss actions, declaratory judgments and environmental law matters in the State and Federal Courts. Furthermore, Mr. Ryan has extensive experience in the representation of parties in mediation and other alternative dispute resolution forums. Mr. Ryan is available to serve as Mediator in substantial matters, particularly professional liability and product liability matters.
Mr. Ryan was admitted to practice law before the Courts of New Jersey and the United States District Court of New Jersey in 1979. He was admitted to appear before the United States Supreme Court in 1986. Mr. Ryan is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, Committee on Professional Malpractice Insurance; The Trial Attorneys of New Jersey; The American Bar Association, Section on Litigation, Professional Liability, Product Liability and Insurance Law Committees; The Professional Liability Underwriting Society; The Defense Research Institute, Professional Liability Section; U. Among his notable engagements, Mr. Ryan has provided representation to professionals in litigation and ADR forums:
- arising from malpractice allegations regarding the design and construction of a major wastewater treatment facility;
- regarding design and contract administration of a large-scale centrifuge construction project at a major wastewater treatment facility;
- involving design and construction projects for several major bridges and roadways in the State of New Jersey;
- arising from allegations of security breaches at commercial establishments; and
- involving alleged architectural, engineering and surveying errors in major New Jersey real estate developments.
