Overview

Kieran Ensor is an Associate in Connell Foley's Cybersecurity, Data Privacy and Incident Response Group, and the ERISA and Benefit Plan Litigation Group. Kieran joined the firm after clerking for the Hon. Joseph A. Dickson, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. Prior to that, he clerked for the Hon. Frank Covello, J.S.C. of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Law Division, Civil Part.  Kieran also previously worked as a law clerk at Connell Foley.

In law school, Kieran focused his studies in cybersecurity and data privacy. He authored a paper that analyzed the interaction of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the emerging technology of blockchain systems. After law school, during his clerkship in state court, Kieran’s job duties included monitoring the dockets for accidental disclosures of unredacted PII and PHI. During a clerkship in federal court, he assisted in deciding motions to seal, balancing the validity of redactions on the basis of PHI/PII and the public’s fundamental right to access. In practice, Kieran’s daily work involves handling materials that are covered under HIPAA, requiring him to remain current and compliant with its regulatory framework. Kieran also monitors changes in legislative and regulatory mandates surrounding data privacy and cybersecurity.

Kieran received his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2019, where he was a member of the Interscholastic Moot Court Board, SBA Governance Committee and Leadership Fellows. He also served as a student advocate with Seton Hall University School of Law Conflict Management Program.
