Connell Foley’s Owen McCarthy Appointed to Judiciary

Roseland, New Jersey - November 17, 2016 - Connell Foley LLP is proud to announce that partner Owen C. McCarthy has been appointed as a judge to the New Jersey Superior Court, Law Division. Mr. McCarthy was nominated by Governor Chris Christie on October 20, 2016 and unanimously confirmed by the New Jersey Senate on November 14, 2016. He will be assigned to the Monmouth County Civil Division.

“I am honored to have been nominated by Governor Christie and to have the support of the Senate, as well as the New Jersey and Monmouth County Bar Associations,” said Mr. McCarthy. “I have devoted my entire professional career to the law and assisting clients navigate the court system. It will be my privilege to serve the people and the State of New Jersey.”

Mr. McCarthy, who began his career as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Peter F. Boggia, J.S.C., is an experienced litigator who has tried more than 50 cases to verdict. He was designated, and later re-designated, by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Certified Civil Trial Attorney. He serves on the Executive Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association Civil Trial Bar Section and is a member of the Justice Morris Pashman American Inn of Court.

In addition to his legal career, Mr. McCarthy has a distinguished history of public service. He is one of only a handful of individuals within the state to have been elected to public office in two separate counties, serving as Council President in Manasquan, Monmouth County and Deputy Mayor in Fair Lawn, Bergen County. He previously served as Commissioner and Treasurer for the Bergen County Housing Authority, New Jersey’s largest public housing authority.

A graduate of Seton Hall University School of Law, Mr. McCarthy received his J.D. in 1998. He received his B.A. in Political Science from Union College, Schenectady, New York. Mr. McCarthy has been licensed to practice in New Jersey, New York and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
