ROSELAND, NJ (September 17, 2012) - Connell Foley partner Michael A. Shadiack presents at the New Jersey Business & Industry Association’s (NJBIA) “Developing Employee Handbooks & Policies: Get the Tools You Need to Manage Your Workforce and Avoid Legal Liabilities" held on September 21, 2012 at the Wilshire Grand Hotel, West Orange, New Jersey.

A properly written employee handbook is a vital tool for every employer. A poorly written handbook – or the absence of one – can land your company in serious legal trouble. Shadiack will discuss how to protect yourself and your business by writing your handbook the right way and will address the numerous ways that a clearly-worded and well-organized employee handbook will benefit an organization. In addition, he will provide practical advice for drafting and updating an employee handbook including beset practices in dealing with the explosion of social media.

Shadiack is a member of the firm's Labor and Employment Law practice group, who practices exclusively in the areas of labor and employment law on behalf of management in the private and public sectors. In addition he represents non-profit organizations and institutions of higher education. He provides employers with pro-active and preventative counseling on personnel and benefit issues to ensure compliance with statutory and common law requirements, as well as prepares comprehensive and practical employment agreements and personnel policies tailored to each employer’s specific needs.
