IRS Issues Regulations on Opportunity Funds

This afternoon, the Internal Revenue Service issued long-awaited regulations for Investing in Opportunity Funds under Section 1400-Z of the Internal Revenue Code.

In addition, the Internal Revenue Service issued a Revenue Ruling providing guidance for taxpayers participating in opportunity funds on the 'original use' requirement for land purchased after 2017 in qualified opportunity zones. Form 8996, which investment vehicles will use to self-certify its Qualified Opportunity Funds, was also released.
