Peter J. Smith Featured in Business Credit Magazine on New Jersey Lien Law

Partner Peter J. Smith, whose practice focuses on litigation and arbitration of construction disputes, authored an article entitled, “New Jersey Lien Law,” which was featured in the March 2006 issue of Business Credit magazine. In the article, Mr. Smith explains that New Jersey’s Construction Lien Law (CLL) allows contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to place liens on privately owned property improved by their work when they are not paid for their materials or services.

Mr. Smith further discusses several aspects of the CLL, such as the deadline and procedure for filing a claim, defense of payment, resolving the lien, waivers, and related statutes.
