JERSEY CITY, N.J./August 26, 2011 -- Connell Foley Partner Philip F. McGovern, Jr. participated as a panelist on a session, "The Urban Core: What drivers are behind the resurgence of the State's major cities?" at The 5th Annual New Jersey Real Estate Conference presented by ScheinMedia. The conference was held at The Atrium, Harborside Financial Center, on Jersey City's waterfront on June 9, 2011. The event brought together over 300 leaders from the real estate, finance, law, and government sectors.

Amongst the event’s featured guests was Newark Mayor Cory Booker. Mayor Booker has publicly expressed his enthusiasm about the efforts being made to revitalize the metropolitan center, which is home to historic buildings and a variety of commercial operations. He has also emphasized Newark’s importance as a critical international and national hub for business, with the city’s direct connections to major cities such as New York and Philadelphia, and the world.

McGovern, a member of Connell Foley’s Executive and Management Committees and Managing Partner of Connell Foley’s Jersey City office and was selected based on his deep experience in real estate and corporate transactions, real estate development, land use, complex commercial financing, and commercial leasing, as well as his life long affiliation with the City of Jersey City.

“By examining activity in this venue, we can assess progress and see firsthand the opportunities ahead of us in continuing the transformation of Jersey City into a place that people are drawn to as ‘the place to be’,” stated McGovern.
