CHERRY HILL, N.J./February 1, 2012 -- “It is our honor to welcome Judge Francis 'Spike' Orlando to Connell Foley, whose combination of extensive experience and sound principles are a rare commodity,” said Managing Partner Michael X. McBride. “We are proud to increase the talent in our Alternative Dispute Resolution group with a jurist of his distinguished character and exemplary repute.”

Hon. Francis J. Orlando, Jr., A.J.S.C., Assignment Judge, has spent twenty years in service as Judge in the Camden Vicinage - one of the New Jersey Superior Court’s largest and busiest subdivisions. A prominent figure in the South Jersey area, he will focus primarily on handling mediations and arbitrations, operating from Connell Foley’s new office in Cherry Hill.

“I am pleased and proud to continue my legal career at Connell Foley, a preeminent law firm in New Jersey and the region," stated Judge Orlando. "Connell Foley’s reputation for excellence in advocacy, dedication to its clients’ interests, professionalism, and commitment to the community is unmatched. I look forward to joining this distinguished and vital law firm.”

Judge Orlando was appointed to the bench in 1991, after holding a position as senior partner in the law firm of Orlando, Kearny & Brady where he concentrated his practice on civil litigation and on representing governmental agencies. He was the Presiding Judge of the Civil Division in Camden before taking on the role of Assignment Judge from which he led the Camden Judiciary for 16 years. He presided over and managed hundreds of complex matters including products liability, medical malpractice, insurance coverage, land use and zoning law, eminent domain, personal injury, governmental disputes, and employment and election law cases.

“Judge Orlando’s conduct on the bench has set the standard in the courts. His fair-mindedness and sharp insight is indisputable,” stated McBride.

Other additional public service positions he has held include elected Mayor of the Borough of Haddon Heights and numerous Judicial Council committees, including a term as Chair of the Judicial Council Labor Relations Committee. He has been a member of the Supreme Court Committee on Civil Practice, the Public Access Committee, the Outside Activities Committee and the Albin Committee.

Judge Orlando is widely sought after as a featured speaker, including at forums presented by the Camden County Bar Association, the Institute of Continuing Legal Education, and the Judiciary.
