Despite a drop in fresh bankruptcy filings in Delaware, three law firms have launched three new Wilmington offices since the start of 2026, predicting a busy second half of the year given ongoing geopolitical turmoil and economic uncertainty.

“We were becoming more active in Delaware and we had several significant matters litigated there, so we knew first of all that we were comfortable being there and we knew our clients wanted us to travel there to handle matters,” said Connell Foley managing partner Tim Corriston regarding why the firm launched a new location in Delaware. “There was a demand from our clients.”
