Randall Pens Summary of President's Proposed Data Privacy Legislation for USLAW Network

Karen P. Randall, Co-chair of Connell Foley’s Cyber Security and Data Privacy Group, recently authored the article “Data Security and Privacy Issues Are Top Priority in State of the Union Address” for the USLAW Network and its DigiKnow publication.  Ms. Randall provided a synopsis of the key points that President Obama made during a presentation at the Federal Trade Commission and National Cyber Security and Communications Integration Center on his plan to enact legislation to address identity theft and data privacy.  Legislative initiatives include: Federal Standard for Data Breach Notification, Making Credit Scores Available to Customers, Consumer Privacy Bill of Rights/Student Digital Privacy Act, Sharing of Information by Private Sector Businesses, and Modernizing Law Enforcement.
