Karen Randall Receives Second ABA Presidential Appointment to Standing Committee on Lawyers’ Professional Liability

Roseland, New Jersey - June 28, 2016 - Connell Foley LLP is proud to announce that firm partner Karen Painter Randall received a second appointment to the Standing Committee on Lawyers’ Professional Liability by the President of the American Bar Association (ABA). Ms. Randall was originally appointed to the Standing Committee in 2014 and will now serve a three-year term running from 2016-2019.

The Standing Committee is tasked with keeping the ABA, state and local bar associations and the insurance industry apprised of issues regarding the professional liability of lawyers and related liability insurance concerns, as well as making recommendations for risk management programs that address professional liability claims.

“I am most appreciative of your commitment to our profession,” wrote Linda Klein, President-Elect of the ABA, to Ms. Randall. “As we face so many challenges, your leadership is needed now more than ever to ensure confidence in our justice system and to advance the rule of law.”

Ms. Randall is co-chair of the Professional Liability Group and the founder and chair of the Cyber Security and Data Privacy Group at Connell Foley. She regularly represents clients in complex litigation involving professional liability, cyber security and data privacy, cyber liability, social media, employment law, business litigation and insurance law. She provides counseling, representation and advocacy services to a wide range of professionals, including attorneys and judicial professionals, design professionals, architects/engineers, insurance agents and brokers, real estate brokers, agents and inspectors, security brokers and investment advisors, accountants, directors and officers, and other professionals in federal and state court and before the United States Supreme Court. 

Designated a Certified Civil Trial Attorney, Ms. Randall is often tapped for key state and national leadership positions. She was appointed by N.J. Supreme Court Chief Justice Rabner to serve on New Jersey’s Board on Civil Trial Certification. Other leadership roles include Regional Chair, Claims and Litigation Management Alliance; Vice Chair, Cyber Security and Data Privacy Group, USLAW Network, Inc.; and Mentor, National Association of Women Lawyers.

Ms. Randall’s outstanding reputation has consistently earned her legal and business honors and awards. She has been recognized by her colleagues as a leader in her field based on her professionalism and advocacy for clients on significant issues. Recently, Ms. Randall was nominated by her peers to become a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation in recognition of her outstanding dedication to the welfare of the community and to the highest principle of the legal profession. For many years, Ms. Randall was selected for inclusion in “Top 100 New Jersey Super Lawyers” and, notably, in “Top 50 Female Super Lawyers.” She was named by the New Jersey Law Journal as a “Prominent Leader Among Women and Minority Attorneys” in New Jersey. Ms. Randall also received NJBIZ’s prestigious “Best 50 Women in Business” award and was a national Finalist for the CLM “Litigation Professional of the Year” award. Most recently she was recognized in “New Jersey’s Women Leaders in Law.”
