Jennifer C. Critchley, a partner in Connell Foley’s Commercial Litigation Group, and Lisa J. Trembly, Of Counsel in the Group, co-authored the article “Historical Review, Current Status and Legal Considerations Regarding Sanctuary Cities,” which was published in the June 2017 issue of New Jersey Lawyer magazine. The article discusses the debate regarding the constitutional issues over whether a state’s or municipality’s designation as a sanctuary city and resulting failure to comply with federal immigration law is legal and whether the executive branch has the authority to block federal funding to any jurisdiction that espoused sanctuary policies.
