Michael Shadiack, Chair of Connell Foley's Labor and Employment Group, is quoted in New Jersey Business Magazine's article "Get Ready for Changes to Federal Overtime Rules." The article offers a recap of NJBIA's April 30th seminar titled "The Crystal Ball on Wage & Hour Laws.” Mike, who was a panelist at the seminar, suggests employers start reviewing their worker pay schedules and exemption classifications in light of the impending changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) that are expected to be enforced in early 2020. Under the proposed new rules, the salary threshold for exempting employees from overtime pay will increase from $23,660 to $35,308 per year.

In the article, Mike also offers an explanation of the different exemption classifications and approaches that businesses can consider to ensure that employees are classified (and compensated) correctly under the new rules.
