Steve Barnett, a partner in Connell Foley’s Environmental Law Group, was interviewed in the article “Maintaining a Safe Work Environment,” published in the March 2023 issue of NJ Business Magazine.
In New Jersey, workplace fatalities have increased by 34% from 2020 to 2021, with more than half occurring in construction, transportation and warehousing, and the waste industry, according to the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). While nationwide, in 2021, the rate of workplace injuries/illnesses was 2.7 versus 2.9 within New Jersey state – 7.4% higher than the national average.
Steve explains, “Effective safety and health programs require management commitment, trained-in-house and consulting safety and health managers, and management employee communications.”
