Karen Painter Randall, chair of Connell Foley’s Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Group and co-chair of the firm’s Professional Liability Group, authored an article for the inaugural issue of APRI CyberPro Magazine. Ms. Randall’s article, which was published in the Spring 2016 issue, is titled “Ransomware: The New Cyber Scam Threatening Businesses.” The article discusses the increasing threat to businesses from ransomware, a type of malware in which a hacker encrypts critical systems files and holds the files “ransom” until the affected organization pays to receive the decryption key.
