Overview
Abbey True Harris leverages her expansive law firm, government, and private industry experience to support clients across regulatory, legislative, and governmental processes, including providing counsel on complex litigation and appellate law.
Abbey’s high-level government service includes serving as chief counsel of the New Jersey Senate Majority Office, where she interfaced at the highest levels and provided guidance on legislative matters and policy initiatives affecting state residents, including affordable housing, insurance, healthcare, and long-term care. In the private sector, Abbey most recently worked as chief legal officer and senior vice president of external affairs at Reciprocal Management Corporation. Previously, as director of legal affairs and complex litigation at NJ Physicians United Reciprocal Exchange, she oversaw complex litigation, and executed healthcare-related legislative, amicus, and reform initiatives. Informed by her international experience, Abbey brings a global perspective to her practice, enabling her to serve clients across diverse markets and regulatory environments.
Deeply committed to community service, Abbey was recently named to Jersey City Mayor Solomon’s co-governance committee, focused on housing and economic development. She served for nearly a decade on her local school board; has worked with or volunteered for various federal, state, and local government offices; and was appointed to N.J. Supreme Court and Bar Association committees focusing on women and underserved populations. Abbey has also worked with non-profit and advocacy groups as a legal or strategic advisor, and has provided pro bono counsel on significant civil rights issues. She founded A. True Impact, a consulting firm offering strategic advice to non-profit and for-profit entities, and co-founded DH Consultants, which provides guidance in affordable housing development. Holding a degree in Spanish, Abbey has worked in Latin America in support of local and international charities, and has studied throughout Europe, focusing on affordable housing, urban planning, and international politics.
Beginning her legal career in 2005 as a law clerk to New Jersey Supreme Court Justice Virginia A. Long, Abbey subsequently spent nearly a decade in private practice with a large national firm, where she concentrated on complex appellate litigation, healthcare, and regulatory matters.
In addition to her legal practice, she directs a firmwide community engagement program to amplify Connell Foley's long-standing commitment to pro bono services.
