Steve Barnett, Co-chair of the American Chemical Society New York Section Chemical Marketing & Economics Group (CME), will serve as Co-chair the CME’s Seventh STEM Leadership Awards on December 4, 2018. This American Chemical Society (ACS) ChemLuminary award-winning event is dedicated to the advancement of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) programs. Established in 2012, the Leadership Awards are the highest honors given by the ACS New York Section’s CME to outstanding leaders in various sectors of society for harnessing the transforming power of chemistry for the benefit of mankind. This year’s event will honor the following leaders: for Lifetime Achievement, KKR Co-Founder Henry Kravis; for Corporate Reinvention, DowDuPont CEO Ed Breen; and for STEM Philanthropy, Simons Foundation co-founders Marilyn and James Simons. Co-chairs for the event are Seifi Ghasemi, Chairman and CEO of Air Products, and Jim Fitterling, President of Dow Chemical.
The ACS, founded in Manhattan in 1876 and chartered by the U.S. Congress, is the world's largest scientific society with over 160,000 members and the premier global home for chemists, chemical engineers and related professions. Established in 1954, CME is a topical group of the ACS’s New York Section.
