Randall Speaks on HIPAA Enforcement for 2016 CLM Cyber Liability Summit

Karen Painter Randall, chair of Connell Foley’s Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Group and co-chair of the firm’s Professional Liability Group, will serve as a panelist on “The Brave New World of HIPAA Enforcement” at the 2016 Cyber Liability Summit hosted by Claims & Litigation Management Alliance (CLM) on October 5, 2016 at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel.

Ms. Randall’s panel will review how the healthcare industry has become the perfect target for cyber-attacks and will discuss the different types of enforcement actions being brought by the Department of Health & Human Services’ Office for Civil Rights for violations of HIPPA/HITECH. Moreover, this presentation will discuss some of the new types of cyber-attacks facing businesses in this sector, including ransomware attacks, as well as the leading security and risk management principles to assist businesses in the healthcare industry to strengthen their security posture. Panelists will include representatives from the State of New Jersey, Ironshore Insurance Company and Hackensack University Medical Center.
