Founded in 1938, Connell Foley is proud to celebrate its 85th Anniversary. The firm’s humble beginnings in Newark have paved the way to becoming one of the leading law firms in the state. Connell Foley is more than 150 attorneys strong with six locations in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
Connell Foley has established a reputation for providing top-tier transactional and litigation services, solutions-oriented advocacy with clients, and upholding the highest ethical standards in the practice of law.
Connell Foley has a culture of respect, acceptance, and inclusiveness -- attributes the firm has consistently demonstrated by promoting a diverse workforce long before the practice became the standard. Through its participation in the Mansfield Rule program, Connell Foley has committed to affirmative consideration of at least 30% women, lawyers from underrepresented racial/ethnic groups, lawyers with disabilities and LGBTQ+ lawyers, for top leadership roles, hiring, promotion, and participation in client pitch meetings.
Over the past decade, the firm has grown exponentially under the stewardship of previous Managing Partners Michael X. McBride, Philip F. McGovern, Jr. and current Managing Partner Timothy E. Corriston by expanding existing offices and opening new ones.
Since the firm’s inception, New Jersey’s most prominent leaders have called Connell Foley home: the former chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, a former state Supreme Court Chief Justice and Governor of New Jersey, former senior executives at our state’s largest businesses, New Jersey’s first female lieutenant governor, chief counsels to former governors, and numerous federal and state prosecutors.
Timothy Corriston states, “With decades of history in the Mid-Atlantic region, Connell Foley remains a powerhouse firm deeply committed to its clients and communities, serving many of the most influential and innovative companies and governmental agencies in the state. As we have done for the past 85 years, we will continue to aggressively fight for the success of our clients.”
Connell Foley remains one of the area’s preeminent law firms and the 85th anniversary is not only a moment to celebrate and honor its past, but an opportunity to look to a promising future.
