Connell Foley is pleased to announce that Karen Painter Randall, Chair of the firm’s Cybersecurity, Data Privacy and Incident Response Group, has been named by the University of South Carolina as the 2020 College of Arts and Sciences Dean’s Award recipient. Karen will be honored on September 29, 2022 at the University’s Recognition of Excellence Celebration, an annual event that recognizes the outstanding leadership and service achievements of alumni who are making a significant impact on society, the University, and/or the community at large. Due to the pandemic, the 2020 and 2021 award recipients will be recognized at this year’s Celebration.

Karen is an extremely active alumna of the University of South Carolina, Honors College, and the University of South Carolina School of Law. In addition to serving on the College of Arts and Sciences Board of Visitors and leading the School of Law’s Cybersecurity Legal Task Force, Karen was instrumental in helping the College develop the curriculum for their new Cyber Intelligence Major. This major “expands the cyber world beyond code and technology” and prepares students “to master all sides of cybersecurity challenges — political, psychological, and global.”
