Steve Barnett, a partner in Connell Foley’s Environmental Law Group, and Scott Press, an associate in the Group, authored the article “Addressing Unsafe Drinking Water Before the Next Crisis Hits” for the July 18, 2016 issue of the New Jersey Law Journal. Despite the recent contamination of major water systems such as in Flint, Michigan, and in New Jersey schools, water systems and municipalities can be overwhelmed by regulations surrounding drinking water, as well as the perceived expense associated with replacing aging infrastructure. This article examines several different funding sources available that make updating New Jersey's water systems an attractive option that should be considered in order to safeguard human health.
