Connell Foley partners John D. Cromie and Karen Painter Randall are speaking at the USLAW NETWORK/TELFA Cross Border Business and Transactions Exchange being held in Chicago on September 28-29.

This joint conference between the USLAW NETWORK and the Trans-European Law Firm Alliance (TELFA) is expected to address some of the latest trends in cross-border transactions in Europe, and North and South America, with a specific focus in those legal structures most commonly used in different countries to develop business in new territories. Relying on a common and prototypical fact pattern, the sessions’ facilitators will address a broad cross section of issues that multi-national companies and those seeking to grow to multi-national status often encounter.

Mr. Cromie, chair of Connell Foley’s Corporate & Business Law Group, will facilitate a panel discussion on “Getting Out of a Comfort Zone: Doing Deals Away from Home | Corporate and M&A Transactions | Share Deals v. Asset Deals.”  The panel will discuss the important nuances of various acquisition scenarios and identify key steps companies should consider when considering potential M&A deals.

Ms. Randall, chair of the Cyber Security & Data Privacy and co-chair of the Professional Liability Groups at Connell Foley, will participate in a discussion on “Data Privacy Issues and Concerns with International Business.” In this session, panelists will provide guidance on the new EU General Data Protection Regulation, the proposed EU-US Privacy Shield, other privacy and security laws, and special data privacy and security considerations for international mergers and acquisitions.

Mr. Cromie and Ms. Randall will be joined in their discussions by attorneys from around the globe, including those from England, France, Brazil and The Netherlands, as well as other U.S.-based law firms from the USLAW NETWORK.
