ROSELAND, N.J./March 11, 2008 -- The Essex County Bar Association recently announced that Samuel D. Lord will receive the Civil Trial Attorney Achievement Award at their annual Dinner and Awards Banquet scheduled to take place April 28, 2008 at the Pleasantdale Chateau in West Orange. Mr. Lord is a partner with Connell Foley’s Insurance Defense and Product Liability and Tort Law practice groups.

Mr. Lord’s colleague, Brian Steller (a former President of the Essex County Bar Association and a partner with Connell Foley’s Insurance Defense, Product Liability and Tort Law, Insurance Coverage, Professional Liability, Healthcare/ERISA, and Alternative Dispute Resolution practice groups) said, “The Civil Trial Attorney Achievement Award is being presented to Mr. Lord for his dedication to the trial by jury system, his unwavering professionalism and his tremendous success as one of New Jersey’s finest civil trial attorneys. Over four decades of practice, Mr. Lord has distinguished himself throughout New Jersey’s trial and appellate courts, but primarily he has been a fixture for his clients in Essex County. Over this period of time, Mr. Lord has enjoyed the respect and camaraderie of his adversaries as well as members of the bench.”

“What’s more, Mr. Lord is well known for his sense of fairness as well as his unending willingness to help young attorneys as they begin practicing in the trial courts. He has volunteered his valuable time to improve the trial of civil cases in Essex County as a result of years spent working on the Essex County Bench/Bar Committee. All members of the Bar Association take this opportunity to thank Mr. Lord for his leadership, willingness to teach as well as share his unique approach to civil litigation,” Mr. Steller added.

“We are very proud of Mr. Lord for having been chosen to receive this prestigious award. It is well-deserved and the result of his impressive trial record and his career-long dedication to the continuous improvement of the civil litigation process,” said Kevin J. Coakley, managing partner of Connell Foley.

“Mr. Lord’s quiet yet determined manner brings to mind Teddy Roosevelt’s advice to ‘speak softly, but carry a big stick.’ Not only is Mr. Lord a formidable litigator, but a well-respected and well-known figure on the New Jersey legal scene as a result of his work with New Jersey State and Essex County Bar Association Civil Practice Committees.”
