George J. Kenny, a partner in Connell Foley's Product Liability and Tort Law Group, recently authored "The Evolving Rationale of Personal Jurisdiction," published in the New Jersey Law Journal on January 6, 2020. The article examines how the rationale on personal jurisdiction law has evolved over the years, beginning with the landmark United States Supreme Court decision in International Shoe Co. v. Washington in 1945. The Supreme Court has examined personal jurisdiction and in particular the "stream of commerce" theory on various occasions since then; however the Court has yet to reach a unanimous decision, leaving state courts to decide relevant cases on 'the limited fundamentals about which there is little or no dispute or debate.'
