Lauren Iannaccone, an associate in Connell Foley's Cannabis Law and Labor and Employment Groups, was recently interviewed for a South Jersey Biz article entitled "Weed and the Workplace," which discusses the challenges businesses face -- and the steps they should take -- with applying complex new guidelines to their offices and workforce, in light of New Jersey's amendment legalizing recreational marijuana for adult use.

Regarding testing employees for marijuana, Lauren notes "First, you want to make sure you have a standard procedure and you are treating all of your employees the same. Second, do not forget you are testing for other substances as well.” Lauren further discusses New Jersey's certified Workplace Impairment Recognition Experts (WIRE) program and other aspects of the Cannabis Regulatory, Enforcement Assistance, and Marketplace Modernization Act (CREAMMA), which outlines the rules and regulations regarding legalized recreational marijuana.
