Steve Barnett, a partner in Connell Foley’s Environmental Law Group, authored the article “Protection for All” for the National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) April-June 2022 issue.
The article examines the key component of environmental law and regulation in relation to minority and low income populations. Steve explains what role the California Governor’s Office of Planning and Research/California Environment Protection Agency CALOPR/CALEPA, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) and the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (NYDEC) play in environmental justice in their respective locations.
As Steve states, “It is important to know and track whether your facility is a facility for EJ purposes, is in an overburdened or disadvantaged community, and whether a planned transaction, expansion, addition, permit application or other action will be impacted by EJ requirements.”
