John Cromie, chair of Connell Foley's Corporate and Business Law Group, was a featured speaker at the Fall 2018 USLAW NETWORK Client Conference, held in connection with the USLAW-TELFA Cross Border Exchange in Montreal, QC on September 6-8, 2018. John presented “Fintech Technology: Do you Accept Bitcoin?” with panelists Christophe Rapin from Meyerlustenberger Lachenal (Geneva, Switzerland) and Joseph E. Spruill, III from LaClairRyan (Richmond, VA). The panel discussed what virtual currencies are, how these currencies are defined by regulators, how they are being regulated, what issues exist for banks dealing with virtual currencies, and who/what organizations should accept virtual currencies as a form of service payment.
