Marianne Tolomeo and Molly Hurley, Partners in Connell Foley's Labor and Employment Group, are presenting a webinar titled "Temperature Checks and More: What You Need to Know About Workplace Health Screenings" on behalf of the New Jersey Business Industry Association (NJBIA) on June 16.

Marianne and Molly will discuss a critical issue facing employers as stay-at-home orders are lifted and employees return to the workplace: maintaining employee health and a safe work environment. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has determined that employers may establish health screening measures before allowing employees to return to the workplace. But how do you do so in a safe, legally compliant, confidential and non-discriminatory manner? This webinar will review key components of health screening policies that employers should consider when reopening their place of business including:

  • Screening methodology
  • Screening protocols
  • Maintaining confidentiality
  • Consequences of screening/test refusals
  • Testing costs
  • Reasonable accommodations and permissible exemptions under federal laws
