Philip McGovern, Connell Foley’s managing partner, and Karen Randall, co-chair of the firm’s Professional Liability practice and chair of the Cybersecurity and Data Privacy practice, are facilitating two separate sessions at the 2018 USLAW Network Professional Liability Exchange, held in conjunction with the Network’s Insurance and Risk Management Group. The two-day program, which begins with a welcome and introduction by Connell Foley partner and USLAW chair John Cromie, runs May 17-18 in Jersey City.

Phil participates in a discussion on “The ‘Interrelated Wrongful Acts’ Provision: 6 Degrees of Separation,” which works through fact situations toward the goal of identifying the important issues surrounding coverage of future claims that "relate back" to an original claim and how those issues might be resolved. Joining Phil in this discussion is Heidi Mandt of Williams Kastner Greene & Markley.

Karen’s session on “Law Firms: The Soft Underbelly of Cybersecurity,” covers the cybersecurity threat to law firms, including increasing demands from clients that law firms do more to protect sensitive data, as well as how firms can be prepared, respond to a data breach,  mitigate loss and reduce risk in the face of potential cyberattacks. Karen is joined in the discussion by Brian Conlin, Regional Claims Manager, Starr Companies; Lisa Midkiff, Director of Claims, Protect Professionals Claims Management; and Rob Ferrini, McGowan Pro.
