Michael Shadiack and Marianne Tolomeo Provide Overview of NJ Minimum Wage Law and Managing Leaves of Absence

Michael A. Shadiack, Chair of Connell Foley's Labor and Employment Group, and Marianne C. Tolomeo, a partner in the Group, will present to members of the New Jersey Food Council on the implementation of New Jersey's newly enacted minimum wage law, as well as various state leave laws.

Mike and Marianne's presentation will cover details of the new minimum wage law, which phases in a $15 minimum wage, including the alternate schedule for seasonal employees and the training wage. They will also discuss topics such as managing employee leaves of absence and understanding income replacement benefits. In addition, Mike and Marianne will explain the distinction between the leave statutes, including New Jersey Paid Family Leave, New Jersey Paid Sick Leave, and the federal Family and Medical Leave, as well as the income replacement benefits that may be available to employees, including short-term disability, workers’ compensation, and New Jersey Paid Family Leave.
