ROSELAND, N.J./August 17, 2009 -- Recognition by peers and community activity are but two elements from a list of criteria that were used by the New Jersey Law Journal to consider Connell Foley LLP partner W. Nevins McCann a viable candidate - and, ultimately, a chosen recipient - of the publication's 2009 "40 Under 40" recognition.

Lawyers named to the New Jersey Law Journal list are also evaluated on the basis of achievement in their careers, from recognition by professional organizations, individual membership and leadership roles in the bar, and work in charitable and volunteer activities. Honorees are top leaders in the state's legal community.

McCann is a member of the Real Estate and Land Use and Corporate and Business Law practice groups. Comprehensive work across a range of industries encompasses:

  • Execution of numerous merger and acquisitions deals of all sizes, extending substantial expertise in negotiating and drafting contracts of all kinds
  • Representation of real estate developers in all phases of the development process including locating and acquiring sites, entering into development and redevelopment agreements, fully permitting sites, financing, construction, leasing, and sales
  • Engagement to various federal, state and local agencies on a variety of projects including those impacted by wetlands, Meadowlands, CAFRA, waterfront development, and other regulations

In addition to being one of the first to file a fractional/time share plan under the new Timeshare Act with the NJREC, McCann was involved with the development of "Liberty National," a world class golf course on the shores of the Hudson River and the site of The 2009 Barclays(TM) - the first of the three PGA TOUR FedEx Cup Playoff Events.

Local charitable organizations in Jersey City and Hudson County such as the Jersey City St. Patrick's Day Committee, and events sponsored by The Paul and Phyllis Fireman Charitable Foundation including One Family and Phoenix House, have benefitted from his time and skills.

Other roles he is active in span service on the Board of Directors of Jersey City Medical Center, and the N.J. State Bar and the Essex and Hudson County Bar Associations.
