Neil S. Dornbaum and Kathleen M. Peregoy, Co-chairs of Connell Foley's Corporate Immigration and Global Mobility Practice, are presenting "2021 Business Immigration Update: The New Hiring Climate Under the Biden Administration" at the NJBIA Human Resource Council Meeting on February 4, 2021.

With the change in presidential administrations, employers can expect several important immigration issues to affect their operations. First and foremost, employers seeking visas for highly skilled foreign workers are facing a new process and an impending application deadline. On top of this, travel restrictions compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic mean foreign workers, and therefore their U.S. employers, face additional challenges in planning to work in the U.S. Neil and Kathleen will discuss:

  • Deadline: March 1, 2021 -- How to Prepare for This Year’s H-1B Cap Filings (allowing U.S. employers to temporarily employ foreign workers in specialty occupations);
  • Restricted Business Travel into and out of the United States: How presidential proclamations and travel bans may continue to affect your business operations in 2021;
  • With Consular and Customs and Border Protection Agency Waivers allowing emergent travel limited, pre-planning for Business Travel is critical.
