John Lacey Presents at Criminal Law Institute

John Lacey, Chair of Connell Foley's White Collar Criminal Defense Group, is a panelist at the 13th Annual Criminal Law Institute taking place on Saturday, November 15, 2019.  This full-day CLE seminar "features some of the state’s most respected judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys and other experts, who will address today’s cutting-edge issues in areas including sexual harassment/sexual assault, the false complaint and prosecutorial discretion, plea negotiation, admitting prior crimes into evidence, and ethical issues in criminal defense practice."  

John presents on the panel "A sin or a crime? Legal issues presented by the clergy abuse crisis." He will be joined in the discussion by Hon. Lisa Miralles Walsh, JSC (Union); Special Deputy Attorney General, Special Prosecutor Robert Laurino; and Michael Critchley, Sr., Esq.

Other topics being presented include: "Victim or Defendant? The False Complaint and Prosecutorial Discretion,""Balancing the Scales of Justice: Plea Negotiation, Admission into PTI, Contingencies and Fairness," "Evid. R. 404b - The Risks and Advantages of Admitting Prior Crimes into Evidence – Discovery and Proof Issues," and "Ethics: Playing by the Rules (of Professional Conduct)." The program also features a luncheon presentation by New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal.
