"ESG" Requirements Impacting All Companies

Agnes Antonian, Chair of Connell Foley LLP’s Environmental Law Group, and Anthony LoPresti, an associate with the group, have published an article in the May 2024 issue of Commerce magazine, a publication of the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey (the “CIANJ”).

Titled “ESG Requirements Impacting All Companies,” the pair’s piece discusses state and federal regulators’ disclosure requirements related to ESG initiatives. The article also describes litigation challenging the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (the “SEC’s”) climate disclosure rules, the impact of climate disclosure regulations on businesses, and the rise of “greenwashing litigation,” which refers to lawsuits challenging companies for allegedly making false, unsubstantiated, or inaccurate statements about their greenhouse gas (“GHG”) emissions.
