Overview

Nicole Dory concentrates her practice on environmental and land use transactions and litigation and other complex business litigation matters. With a degree in geology and experience as an environmental consultant, she applies first-hand knowledge of scientific and technical issues in helping her clients advance their development projects, comply with environmental regulations and land use ordinances, and resolve complex disputes.

Nicole’s broad-based real estate practice encompasses zoning and land use approvals, constitutional issues, regulatory counseling and administrative disputes. She advises on environmental permitting, zoning and regulatory compliance matters for commercial and residential developers, institutional clients and universities, and prepares and negotiates solar power purchase agreements. Diligent and responsive to her client’s needs, Nicole has successfully obtained municipal and county site plan approvals and variances and has extensive experience litigating land use approvals. Nicole also helps her clients navigate the regulation of flood areas and has assisted her clients to successfully amend FEMA flood hazard area designations on flood maps. She also represents clients in CERCLA (Superfund) suits and other environmental remediation matters.

In addition to her environmental and land use work, Nicole represents clients in complex commercial litigation, and is involved in all facets of litigation in federal and state courts, from initial case assessment to appeals.

Nicole was a member of the Environmental Law Clinic at Rutgers University School of Law and a recipient of the Haber Scholarship for Achievement in Environmental Law and Preservation. Before attending law school, she worked as an environmental consultant, focusing on all aspects of environmental due diligence and regulatory compliance. She also assessed various properties for environmental concerns — including historical land use and soil and/or groundwater contamination — and monitored remedial investigations.

Nicole also serves as the chair of Connell Foley’s Women’s Initiative, where she leads firmwide initiatives to foster and mentor women at the firm.
